Most artists who work in a layersing style always have an 'ugly' stage when blocking in colour! I have just finshed the blocking in on 'Cookie's background.
Cookie is the 3rd and final in a trio of pet portrait commissions. The backgrounds on all 3 have been made up as I have gone along. With Cookie's background because she is sitting I have had to go in darker to make her look grounded. This could also give the impression she is sitting slightly in the shade, I will see how it all starts to take shape as I progress with the fun bit....the cat!
So far so good...time to stop for a bit to make my boys tea.
